The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration or POEA has issued an advisory regarding a scam involving student visa UK and the illegal recruitment practice by Filipinos based in London. The said illegal recruitment lured Filipino students to go to London on a student visa UK to attend the London School of Health and Management Studies. According to the Philippine Embassy in London, the 34 Filipino students are supposed to attend the London School of Health and Management but instead have been victimized by these recruiters who ordered them to pay the amount of £2,500 – £3,500 or the equivalent of $5,000 – $7,000 for tuition and fees for student visa UK. The victims also paid an additional £150 for transportation expenses and upon arrival in the United Kingdom they were promised work in nursing homes for 20 hours with pay as part of their curriculum. Police authorities in London raided the school for failure to open the courses offered to the students.
